Sizes
Like any other TV sets and monitors, there is diagonal across the screen measurement in case of plasma TV also. Starting from 32 inches, the plasma screen can go up in size up to 63 inches. The sizes that are commonly marketed are 37, 42, 43, 50, 61 and 63 inches. Normally LCD panel technology is used for screen sizes smaller than 37 inches and sizes beyond 63 inches are rear projection televisions.
Space Selection
The measurement of the space where the plasma TV is going to be accommodated should be the first stage and consideration in installation of a plasma TV set for choosing the plasma screen size desired. The open space at the top of the unit should at least be 3 inches with sufficient space for ventilation behind the unit for escape of heat. Space of around 3 to 6 inches should be provided on both sides of the monitor if it is intended to attach speakers to the plasma TV.
Viewing Space
Between the plasma TV and the viewer should lie adequate viewing space. With the current trend of falling prices and rising popularity of plasma TV, one can hardly resist the temptation for going for larger screen sizes. This is fine as long as sufficient space is there in the room separating the viewer and the plasma TV. Only that can ensure a delightful viewing experience. Keeping a separation of at least 6 to 10 feet is recommended for viewing 32-37 inch screens. The optimum viewing distance for a 42 inch plasma screen should be 10 to 14 feet whereas 12 to 16 feet is necessary for plasma display of 50 inches. Installation of the larger sizes like 61 to 63 inch plasma monitors warrants at least 15 feet viewing space. Maintaining a proper distance besides enhancing the watching pleasure is also a cushion against vision impairment.
