Uniform Illumination

A CRT television is deficient of an evenly bright screen due to front and rear projection of image. There is more light on the middle of the image which gets darker near the edge of the image. This situation is rectified in plasma TV due to uniform illumination of all the pixels over the surface of the screen. Thus the plasma pictures get an accurate silk-smooth look.

Slim Monitors

Options for installations of plasma television have been made extremely flexible by display monitors so thin as only a few inches deep. For example, a 40 inch plasma screen has a depth of only 3.5 inches and the same for a 50 inch display is 4 inches. As a result, starting from a table stand, plasma display monitors can be hung even on wall or ceiling. CRTs with front and rear projections consume far more space and placement options are also very limited. In contrast, plasma monitors occupy very little space allowing the viewer a full impact and enjoyment of big screen. The actual display screen in a plasma monitor is very little wider than the monitor itself giving it an appearance resembling a picture frame that elegantly blends with any ambience. Plasma monitors are replacing the front projector in commercial applications because they dispense with the need to use front projector and projection screen.

Wide Angle View

Irrespective of the location of a viewer, a plasma television provides clear and bright picture for all in a room. The flatness of a plasma monitor enables this wide angle view that may be as high as or even surpassing 170 degrees that no CRT TV can offer. This wide angle view advantage is almost becoming a non-issue with the advent of LCD TV. However the cheap LCD TV sets where viewing angles are not specified still do not provide wide angle view comparable with the plasma TV.
